Yi is a tattoo artist based in Toronto, Canada.
I met her in a huge cyber community called Douban several years ago. We were both crazy about similar bands. But we never met in the real world before. So this was literally the first time we talked to each other face to face via the internet.
The video calling path is like a circle around inside the house. We started from her bedroom then we move to the living room and rooftop through the kitchen.In the end we got back to her bedroom again.In the beginning,her room was full of sunshine in the morning but dark and color after the noon so we made this video calling in the morning. When she started to talk,to be honest, I was not surprised that she has a soft voice even she looks dope af with two long and narrow ttatoo on her arm and leg. Generally speaking, I can see she plants various plants in many corners from her place like bedroom,living room and the rooftop. It was pleased to see her talking about her plant slowly just like a mom showing her kiddos proudly, but somehow with more hispter style.
She has been quarantined since 15th March ,the date that she could still clearly remembered. And actually she was back to work for three times a week and three hours each time recently. When it comes to this quarantine, she turned to be a bit upset as the bad time trapped her a lot while she had to deal with other kinds of annoyance.Then she told me that she always miss life in China and cannot wait to get back. And the most memorable part of being in China is about the food（of course）. I shared several cuisine I am good at later while I can see her writing down notes really seriously and that was pretty cute. I feel a little pure girl inside her body with strong power to against the struggle of life even there is no aggressive emotions shown on the surface.
Later,we both found out that an hour and a half passed when we finished the talking. Well,a pleasant conversation never feels too long. And I hope this winter come later than ever for her.
